![]() ![]() They had been together a few years after meeting at work, he apparently accidently threw a cup of tea over her. ![]() She said that she was happy at home with her partner (I will call him Daddy-to-be) for the time being and would call me later. I cried every time I tried to allow my heart to go there. I had watched the 'bump' grow, I knew the baby was a boy and I knew she was two days overdue, but I still couldn't conceive of the fact that my baby was having a baby. She was in labour with my first Grandchild. So here I was being woken up by twin number two in the middle of the night 20 years later.'wake up, wake up you sleepy head'."They are every two minutes apart Mum". On the especially dark days, I used to ask them to sing it, unbeknown to them it was to cheer me up, which it always did. I loved the song and I loved hearing them sing it. Whenever they sang that song in their sweet little voices, their little innocent faces lit up and so did my heart. I'm just a kid again, doing what I did again, singing a song. Rain may glisten, but still I listen for hours and hours, What if I were blue, now I'm walking through the fields of flowers, Wake up, wake up you sleepy head, get up, get out of your bed, cheer up, cheer up, the sun is red, There be no more sobbing when he starts throbbing his old sweet song, ' When the red, red robin comes bob-bob bobbin' along, along. These beautiful little girls had learned a song at school called the Red, Red Robin. I was a single parent raising twin daughters and a son who was 5 years old. I had not long separated from their dad and was feeling emotionally very low. That song reminds me so much of my twin daughters from when they were about 7 or 8 years old. ![]() No time to be a sleepy head, I could hear myself silently chanting "wake up, wake up you sleepy head". I jumped up and jumped into 'awake mode'. At 2.56am on Thursday 7th July 2016, I was woken up by my mobile phone ringing into the silence. ![]()
